Taurou got off the chair he had planted himself in since he got into the party, and opened a nearby window. He thought it was going to be a much heavier window and lifted with a little strength. When the window flew open it almost broke the glass and he nearly fell out. Everyone's coughing died down and he sat back down in his original seat.

"Alright." William says followed by a loud cough, opening the window next to Taurou, using a bit of wind magic to force the smoke out of the house. "It's fine, it's fine. It's only one thing," William pats Jessica on the back, trying to encourage her. Then again, he was actually quite fond of brownies, he loved the taste. William loved the taste of any dessert, really. Everything else was finely made with the only thing slightly burnt being the cornbread, so in the end, William would mark her down as doing a great job. The air seemed to recuperate and the coughing ceased.

"You really think so?" Jess asked nervously before shouting "Oh, thank you!" And giving William a hug. This time she was careful not to crush him... After that she quickly took the burnt brownies out of the oven and threw them away. "Good thing someone else brought a pie, at least." She said, turning towards Mortimer momentarily. Really she was more open-minded than William and did believe Mortimer's story, but she wanted to show that as little as possible around William. "Okay, it's set up buffet-style so you can get what you want without having to wait for it to get passed to you... Everyone take your pick." Jess had also done this to try and avoid the fighting over the ham that had occured last year.

Taurou, sitting closest to the cornbread, took a small, burnt piece. He didn't care if food didn't taste good, burnt, raw, whatever, as long as it filled his stomach-- and didn't make him sick. He bit into it and actually liked the burnt taste. He swallowed and said to Jess, Even burnt, this is really good.

William literally grabbed one of everything, leaving the pie to last. He threw some chicken and potato into his mouth, courteously of course. “This is really great! You’re an amazing chef, Jessica!” He grins, continuing to eat, offering her a seat to eat as well.

Jess got her favorites, sitting down next to William. As he said that, she blushed, waving her hand as if very happy to receive praise but also feeling slightly guilty for it. "Oh, you're too kind..." She said before turning away momentarily and stuffing some cornbread into her mouth. Why all this blushing? She found it hard enough to accept how she felt towards William without this happening every other minute...

Kitty sat down quietly and watched the others compliment Jess on her cooking. She wasn't hungry but nevertheless scraped up a piece of potato into her mouth. "This is good..." she whispered.

William smiles at Jessica as she blushes at the compliments. Maybe she didn’t get compliments a lot? Well either way, William continued to enjoy the party, eating a lot of food, taking full advantage of the buffet. It would seem Will was eating most of the food rather greedily, though he didn’t notice he was- he never does.

Mortimer was still glomped by Kagami. Not that he minded. A cute girl on his lap and good food. It was the best time he had had for a while now. Was this what it felt like... to have a real family? To have friends? Was this... love he felt for these strangers? Not affection, there was nothing romantic in it at all, but somehow Mortimer felt that if even one of these people was to dissapear... he would be saddened. Saddened to a degree which he had never felt. Was that what love was? Caring about something enough that you would be sad when it was gone? Maybe so. But at least it came with this feeling. The feeling that somehow, to these people, he belonged.

Jess smiled, it'd been a while since she'd had any company besides her students... And they rarely partied with her. "Waddaya say we do this again next year?" She asked everyone, deciding she'd be better prepared next time... She couldn't be any happier, despite the near-fight that had broke out and the brownies burning this had been a great time with her friends...

Kitty shrugged, "Why not?" she smiled feeling quite happy... apart from the fact that Kagami was sitting on Mortimer's lap. She stood up and placed her plates in the kitchen sink, "Would you like me to help you clean up?" Kitty asked.

Jess smiled. "Why thank you." She said, taking her plates and putting them into the sink... She could sense the aggression between Kagami and Kitty, but knew it best to leave them alone and work it out themselves... This she knew from previous experience, having acidentally messed up one of her student's love-lifes my accident at one point... Most of her students were okay with her, but that one had never come to like her again.
