Mortimer was back to his old habits now. It had been three days since the party and the night of the undead horrors. He was taking this time to just relax and enjoy himself. And by enjoy himself, he meant sleeping. Of course this was fairly difficult given his current head cold... and his now eight year old body. As of right now he was lying in bed in his cabin-house sniffling and trying to sleep past eleven to little avail.

Finally giving up, he descended the ladder wearing (indignity of all indignities) duck-yellow feety pajamas! Still they were the only sleep-where he had now that he had shrunk so much. He entered the kitchen and sat at the log made table. Kagami was here today. SHe had said something about caring for him while he was sick but he hadn't really been paying attention what with the dizzying headache and delirium filled fever-dreams. Still he was feeling better now and his infections had lessened to that of a severe headcold. Still, he was sick and severly uncomfortable and Kagami had decided to be there. She certainly was a devoted servant, friend and student.

There Kagami was, overwhelmed by how cute her sensei looked now as much as she tried not to show it... She came in with a bowl of her special tomato soup (She'd made the recipe herself) and put it on the table... "Might as well keep up your strength until your body fights off this illness..." She couldn't help but to mother him a bit, he reminded her so much of her now long-dead little brother too and that wasn't helping.

Taking the spoon, Mortimer tried to stomach the soup as best he could. It wasn't that it was bad or anything, he just didn't know if he could keep anything down. His stomach was acting up and he had started seating underneath the wollen pajamas. The more he tried o focus on eating, the more dizzy he became, his head was spinning as he tried to take another spoonful of the soup, he was overcome by the dizziness, falling over the side of the bed. Still awake but afraid he would vomit if he moved. He couldn't believe how weak he was right now. He felt like death honestly and the tired look on his face would not have made anyone think otherwise. He was breathing heavily as he fell back into unconciousness. His fever had relapsed and once again he was having a fever dream. Sweating coldly throughout it.

Kitty...Kagami... the stood ankle deep in an ocean of blood. All around them was darkness as the two vampires stared each other down. There was no light but to them it didn't matter, there was only the prize and the only way to get it was to destroy the other. Mortimer watched, still a child, suspended from the cielling, bound and gagged. Kagami drew her chainsaw as Kitty morphed into a silver wolf. Fangs barred and blades revving the two clashed, shredding each other to pieces. Cutting, bitting, blood flowing. Mortimer could only watch as the two girls tore themselves apart. He knew that he could stop this. End both of their sufferings right now. But to do that, he would have to kill one of them. And so all he could do was watch as they continued to wound and scar each other, never striking a killing blow... only causing more pain

Kagami wondered what was going on, whatever was it was cauing her to worry as she did not recognise what it was in the slightest. "Oh crap, where's the phone?!" She shouted, quickly looking around for a phone to call up someone... anyone... who would know what the **** was going on.

"Opening his eyes slightly Mortimer looked up at Kagami. She was running around frantically now. Speaking disorientedly he stated "Kagami, calm down, you don't have to run around like that, we don't have a phone here. Just take a deep breath relax and... and.." With that Mortimer collapsed again. He wasn't quite certain but he thought he had just fallen into Kagami's lap... or was that the floor. Either way he couldn't tell. He was shivering slightly despite the high fever and the feety-pajamas were drenched.

Somehow he got the feeling that what he needed was fresh air and sunlight. Not that he could really convey that idea as he was once again out cold. One of these days he would really need to learn how to cure the common cold.

Unbeknownst to kagami there was a vial of cure-potion in the fridge, but its effects were still untested. Mortimer was still sick and the only way someone else would be able to come out here would be by pure chance.

Kagami at first gave a sigh of relief, but saw Mortimer was falling and quickly caught him on her lap... Something told her either he needed fresh air and sunlight or some sort of cure... She decided to go with the first of the two, taking him outside in her arms. "Oh, poor Mortimer-sensei~!" She said to herself... At least he was somewhat ok... She hadn't had to worry about illness in 200 years and so she barely remembered how it felt to be ill... Only small fragments here and there.

Mortimer could feel the sunshine on his face and somehow he felt it revitalizing him. He looked up at the expectant face of Kagami leaning over him. He was glad she had the sense to take him out in the warm refreshing air. He smiled up at her. "Thanks Kagami. I don't know what I would do without you" before he fell back asleep, content to lie in her lap and in the warm sun.

Now the question became what would Kagami do? She could go back inside and make some food but then again it might not be the best idea to leave Mortimer alone in his current state. She could stay there but that might get somewhat dull. Mortimer looked so sweet and innocent in his current state. Just like a real little boy. But how long could this innocence last? What could kagami do to prolong this peaceful moment?

Kagami decided she didn't want to leave Mortimer, but doing nothing would be too boring. Then it hit her. She could go through the memories of her old life that she'd recovered. Fragments though they were, they were still precious to her.

Closing her eyes Kagami could see the visions of her past. Things had been simpler in those days. No violence, no killing,just living. She decided to go back to one of her earlier memories, involving her little brother. They were in a meadow somewhere, playing. Smilling the little boy turned to Kagami, his blonde hair getting in his eyes, and said something. What was it he said exactly?

"Though it may not seem like it at times, your family will always love you." Kagami remembered her younger brother quoting from someone... "I don't know what I would do without you either, Mortimer-sensei." Kagami said to Mortimer as she opened her eyes, even though she knew he couldn't hear her. He truly did look so much like her little brother.

It was then that Mortimer began... growing. Right before Kagami's eyes he seemed to age and grow in a matter of seconds, aging faster and faster until he had reached his previous biological age. His duck-yellow pajamas were stretched and looked rather silly on him now. It looked like the worst of it was over afteral. The grown Mortimer now lay there. So what would Kagami's reaction be now that Mortimers young and innocent appearance had disappeared seemingly forever.

Kagami was startled at first, but hugged Mortimer... She'd liked somethings about him being a cute eight year old, but in that form he couldn't withstand her crushing (very much so) hugs and she had missed that so much... "Thank goodness." She muttered, followed by a string of profanity - from relief, not anger. As much as she would miss the innocence of his younger self, Mortimer was getting better.
